Reviews

“Jessica Leigh Lebos knows Savannah better than any native, but keeps the fresh eye of an outsider. She reminds me of one of those celebrated wandering authors—Henry James, John Muir, Nina Simone, John Berendt—who have turned up in Savannah over the years, heat-stunned, dazzled, a bit bewildered by the city’s inexhaustible strangeness. She’s always bubbling, sharp, loquacious; she drinks Savannah to the dregs and we drink with her, and find every molecule perfectly delicious.”

George Dawes Green,

bestselling author and founder of The Moth

Holy sh*t, not only is she funny, but she's a great writer and a great observer. You don't need to be from or live in Savannah to enjoy Savannah Sideways, .you just need to like to read good writing. Seriously, stop reading reviews and just buy the book already!

Kris Edenfield

The newest Ambassador of Savannah has arrived! Whether you're going there or not, put this book on your list! Part sightseers guide to the unique
and decidedly southern as well as insights into the eccentric, lovable denizens of the Most Beautiful City in the U.S., my opinion, of course, you will be entertained through character studies like The Duchess of State, ghost stories that will give you chills, treks through strange field trips, Tybee Island and more. Oh, so much more. A series of columns about her surroundings lets Lebos explore the inner workings of what makes a city earn its reputation for being cool. It's a smart, funny (What a wicked sense of humor with an ability to play with words!) and the best read I've had in a long time. Pack up the sunscreen, towels and hat. You'll be delighted with your beach read!

This book is an insightful as it is hilarious. As a recent transplant to Savannah, picking up a copy indoctrinated me into Southern culture quickly. It's a guidebook to Savannah's whimsical personality disguised as a thoughtful collection of essays.
